Anonymous Keno winner receives $2 million Christmas present!
There was plenty of Christmas cheer at St Marys Leagues Club this festive season after an anonymous club member picked up over $2 million in Keno winnings on Christmas Eve at the club.
The single-mother from St Marys was there enjoying a quite Christmas catch-up with a friend and a social game of Keno when her $10 Keno ticket turned into a $2 million Christmas suprise.
While the winner was reluctant to comment too much on the wion, she did say the money would help her to start 2010 debt free and set her up for retirement, not to mention help out her two children and five grandchildren. She also said an overseas trip to visit her mother in Croatia was on the cards.
St Marys Leagues Club Keno Coordinator, Tracey Choice, sold the winning ticket and said that someone must have been looking out for the winner when she bought it.
“She [the winner] was only going to replay her ticket for five games, however changed her mind at the last minute and replayed it for ten games. It was on the sixth game that her numbers came up and she won the big one,” Tracey said.
“When we processed the winning ticket for her she was absolutely speechless and needed club staff to help her recover from the shock. Much to our surprise she celebrated the win with a glass of ice water with a twist of lemon,” she said.
Club Marketing Manager, Cathy Rowley, said she was absolutely thrilled a club member had won the cash, saying it was the best Christmas present anyone could ask for.
“We love it when our members have a win, but for one of our club members to win this much money during the festive season is a real thrill, even for our staff,” Cathy said.
“I wish the winner and her family a very special holiday season. There’s sure to be plenty of merriment both in her home and here at St Marys Leagues,” she said.Â
